ELIGIBILITY
The following people are eligible to enter:
An employee of a commercial radio station in the Pittsburgh Metro Survey Area.
An employee of a non-profi t or public radio station within the Pittsburgh area.
A freelance producer or talent in the Pittsburgh area.
(any of the individuals responsible for an entry may submit it, as long as they are locally based).
An employee of an advertising or public relations agency in the Pittsburgh area.
An employee of a private production studio in the greater Pittsburgh area.
An employee of a network affiliate with a show produced in the Pittsburgh Metro.
Survey Area and broadcast on at least one radio station within the Pittsburgh area.
All entries must have been broadcast by a radio station within the designated area between Friday, September 14, 2007 and Thursday, September 18, 2008, unless otherwise noted. The entries must be produced locally with primarily local talent.
JUDGING
Judges will consider the excellence of each entry based on the following criteria:
Creativity — The degree to which the on-air presentation, production and/or writing stands out from the competition in regard to concepts and presentation.
Delivery — The manner in which methods, ideas and concepts have been presented.
Detail — The degree to which all elements of the on-air presentation or production are included.
Clarity — The degree to which the message is easily understood.
Originality — The degree to which new and exceptional ideas in the on-air presentation, production and/or writing are used.
Production Value — The quality of the sound, mixing and use of any sound effects, music and sound bites in the entry.
Overall Presentation — The general interpretation of the entry, including any and all intangibles.
Entries will be judged outside the designated market area (DMA) by impartial panels of credible and experienced radio industry professionals in like-sized markets around the country. No more than two representatives from the same station will serve as judges on the same panel, and judging coordinators will strive to have different radio broadcast companies and organizations represented on each panel.
AWARDS
Awards will be presented at a gala luncheon on November 19, 2008. Award recipients in each category will receive an award etched with the A.I.R. Awards logo. Finalists in each category will receive a special certificate.
DEADLINE
All CDs, entry forms and collateral materials must be received by 5:00pm on Friday, September 19, 2008.
FEE
$25.00 per entry in each category. Make checks payable to the March of Dimes.
Exception: Best Coverage of Infant and Maternal Health Issues and/or Problems does not have an entry fee.
CATEGORY
More than one entry can be submitted per category, and an entry may be submitted in more than one category. Each submission requires a separate CD, entry form (submitted in duplicate) and entry fee.
Any entry that is submitted improperly may be recommended for disqualification in writing by the judges and returned to the market of origin. All entries must be scored.
